"Music by Franz Peter Schubert" Deutschland Mein Herz
Emil Franz Herrmann was born in Königreich Preußen Berlin, Germany. He was the first Herrmann of this family line to come to America. Emil may have moved to the United States, but Germany was never out of his heart. He was regarded as very German in daily speech and tradition. It is said that he had impeccable German speech. He required that his children speak German in the home until reaching school age. Some of his children passed this down to their own children. Emil Franz Herrmann went by his middle name of Frank or Francis Herrmann. Frank was a farmer and also served as Truant Officer for the Anoka, Minnesota school district. He greatly revered military figures. He even named two of his son's after Presidents of the United States. Frank died at the early age of 60 from cancer. He died at his home in Grow Township, Anoka, Minnesota. He left behind his wife, 14 children and grandchildren.
